Fate‽ Or just a yellowhammer‽
Was it fate knocking at the door, or just a yellowhammer singing which inspired Beethoven’s famous opening for Symphony No 5?
We might not have the answer to that, but we do have a fate-filled evening of music in store.
The SBMS orchestra will be playing pieces by three different composers which feature its own fate motif. From the famous opening four notes of Beethoven’s Symphony No 5, through Bizet’s fate motif in his Carmen suites, to the ominous notes in The Force of Destiny.
We’re sure you’re destined to enjoy the music!
Programme
Beethoven: Symphony No 5
Bizet: Carmen Suite Nos 1 & 2
Delius: On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring
Verdi: La forza del destino (The Force of Destiny) Overture
